Program Manager I, Corporate Environmental Compliance
As a Program Manager I, Corporate Environmental Compliance you will be responsible for developing strategies, programs, and systems in response to regulatory changes, the need for compliance with existing regulations or continuous improvement in the environmental discipline. This role provides compliance information, compliance management, and regulatory interpretation to TSDs, service centers and leadership.

Essential Functions & Requirements:

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Serves as the corporate resource regarding environmental matters, including advanced problem-solving
  • Secures and maintains environmental programs and permits; performs and monitors environmental audits and / or acknowledges and applies regulatory information as needed
  • Determines the impact of proposed and final industry-related regulations on activities of the various Company business units including field activities and treatment facilities at customer locations; establishes impact, provides guidance, and monitors performance regarding permit conditions, company policies and corporate objectives on Company operations
  • Partners with frontline leadership to develop environmental compliance strategies, programs, and systems in response to regulatory developments, including enforcement
  • Assists Arcwood personnel with the evaluation of regulatory, compliance, and technical issues; helps establish technical standards and provides training or coordinates corporate training initiatives
  • Assists with the identification of business opportunities associated with changing environmental regulations; makes recommendations for necessary action requiring Arcwood services and assists with determining environmental regulatory frameworks of new business ventures, assisting with sales and technical evaluations
  • Keeps apprised of regulatory developments at the State and Federal level, maintaining manageable relationships with State and Federal regulatory development, compliance inspection and permit writing personnel as appropriate
  • Works with customers to provide guidance and direction relative to environmental issues as needed
  • Provides direction to internal and external consultants to ensure they are working within Arcwood policy frameworks and objectives
  • Manages the Arcwood-approved Third-Party Facility program, including review, auditing, and approval or denial
  • Manages corporate quality initiatives and demonstrates a focus within specific environmental disciplines as needed
  • Oversees and facilitates various corporate compliance related programs and initiatives including but not limited to RCRA, CWA, CAA, DOT, TSCA, SOSPES, MMS compliance, regulatory research, waste and system analysis and reporting, etc.
  • Interviews and trains Arcwood employees and consultants as needed
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (required); science or engineering discipline (preferred)
  • Relevant professional certifications (preferred)

Experience:

  • 2+ years of diverse experience in regulatory environmental compliance (required)
  • Previous experience with treatment, storage and disposal facilities (preferred)

Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and industrial waste treatment processes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various Federal, State, and Local industry-related regulations
  • Strong business and technical writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed
  • Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
