Vice President, Corporate Communications
Arcwood Environmental is seeking a Vice President, Corporate Communications responsible for strengthening Arcwood's reputation with key external audiences and positioning it as a leader in the environmental waste management industry. This position will report to the Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer.
The Vice President, Corporate Communications will oversee a team of communicators focused on driving Arcwood's message and brand across its portfolio of corporate projects and initiatives. This role will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and implementing an overarching corporate communications strategy and will lead the Corporate Communications team in developing & executing media programs, developing media relationships nationally & internationally, and have a strong understanding of external communications and the US media landscape.
Essential Functions & Requirements:
Strategic Leadership
- Leads the development of long-term communications strategies that support organizational growth, sustainability goals and industry positioning
- Leads a team of Communications professionals within corporate affairs and brand to execute public relations activities that advance Arcwood's business goals
- Identifies key communication priorities aligned with business objectives such as market expansion, regulatory compliance and stakeholder trust
- Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of communication programs, using data-driven insights to refine messaging and tactics
- Serves as an internal representative of the Communications team, ensuring alignment between Corporate goals and communication efforts
- Oversees communication metrics and measurement activity through media evaluation and reporting; stays current on industry trends and conversations to inform strategic campaigns and performance assessment
Brand Management
- Defines and maintains a strong brand identity that reflects Arcwood's commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation
- Promotes and protects Arcwood's external brand and reputation to attract talent and position internal subject matter experts as industry thought leaders
- Oversees the consistent application of brand guidelines across all communication materials, including digital content, presentations and marketing collateral
- Collaborates with Marketing to develop campaigns that reinforce the Company's market leadership and differentiate it from competitors
- Monitors brand perception and reputation in the market, using tools such as surveys and social listening
Media Relations
- Prepares executives for media interviews, ensuring key messages are communicated clearly and effectively
- Quickly responds to media inquiries as appropriate, coordinating internal resources to provide accurate and timely information
- Proactively pitches/develops stories that highlight Company projects, innovations, leadership and community impacts
- Develops, tests and maintains crisis communication plans that appropriately inform relevant parties in the event of an incident; trains executive leaders and Communications team on protocols and media handling
Internal Communications
- Creates and implements internal communication strategies to keep team members informed, engaged, and aligned with the Company's vision and values
- Develops channels such as newsletters, intranet content, town halls, and video updates to foster a culture of openness and inclusion
- Supports change management initiatives by communicating key messages related to organizational shifts, sustainability goals and performance metrics
- Encourages team member advocacy by highlighting individual and team achievements related to enterprise projects
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Builds, mentors and inspires a high-performing Communications team; develops individual specialists in media relations, digital content and internal communications
- Sets clear performance goals, provides regular feedback and promotes professional development opportunities
- Manages budgets, vendor relationships, and resource allocation to maximize impact; engages external consultants as needed on strategy development, campaign execution and post-project analysis
- Partners with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Sales, Operations, Legal and Human Resources to ensure consistent and coordinated messaging; reviews and approves corporate communication content as well as press releases, website and video content, media statements or pitches
- Facilities information flow between executive leadership and Communications team to maintain agility and responsiveness
- Builds and maintains relationships with other professionals within public affairs, corporate communications and general business leadership; participates in executive speeches or conferences
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field (required)
Experience:
- 12+ years of experience within corporate communications, media relations, marketing communications, public relations, publishing, social media, or related field (required)
- Experience working in highly matrixed organizations (required)
- Previous agency and industrial experience (preferred)

- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence across all levels of the organization
- Strong media relations and crisis management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically
- Excellent knowledge of modern digital and social media tools and platforms
- Regular and predictable attendance to consistently perform the essential functions and requirements of this role
